Frequently Asked Questions

1

How long does the program last?

The program is one year long and includes visits to our clinic in The Woodlands every four weeks.

How is the program conducted?

Double-blind placebo controlled participants in the placebo group will receive a placebo treatment throughout the program duration. Since this is a blinded program, the physician and program coordinators will not know who receives the investigational drug. The program data will be collected and sent to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Can I continue receiving other treatments during the program?

While participating in the program, certain standard lupus care treatments can continue for all participants regardless of which arm of the program they are randomized to. This prevents the placebo arm subjects from being totally without treatment for their lupus but those in the other two arms may continue with some of their standard of care treatments.

What happens after the program?

Once the program concludes, participants will have the option to participate in an extension study period that will be open-label and will receive active study drug.
