    Serving Montgomery County

Located in the East Texas Timberlands Region just 40 miles north of Houston, Montgomery County was founded in 1837 by an act of the Congress of the Republic of Texas. One of its claims to fame occurred two years later when Charles Stewart designed the Lone Star flag of Texas in Montgomery, Texas, making Montgomery County the “Birthplace of the Lone Star Flag.”

Today’s Montgomery County boasts a number of lakes, including Lake Conroe and Lake Woodlands, W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, and a portion of Sam Houston National Forest, drawing many visitors interested in boating, hunting, hiking, and fishing.
